Last Needle
03:12
|
|||
Last needle on the tree,
last time she ever wanna look at me
in the morning
Last strand of lights come down,
said you'd rather burn it down to the ground
than stay here
Last cup of Christmas cheer,
said you never ever wanna see me here
anymore.
Last needle on the tree--
this Christmas is the end of you and me.
Last icy, winter chill,
last time we're holding each other still
in the evening
Last present I have to wrap,
last time I ever have to buy you crap
that you'll hate
Last trip to Christmas mass
never gonna have to kiss your mama's ass
anymore
Last needle on the tree
this Christmas is the end for you and me.
Last pose for Christmas cards,
smile through our teeth and our filthy hearts--
Hmmm hmm hmmm
Last time for first noels,
last time you tell me “Go to hell!”
(right in front of my mother’s house)
Last curse and our last fight,
never ever ever had a silent night
with you.
Last meal and last request,
last time ever on house arrest,
Last needle on the tree--
this Christmas is the end for you and me.

She's The Christmas Eve
04:36
|
|||
Well, Joseph was a carpenter,
building chairs and alters,
longed to be a father
maybe have a son, or another one
Every night, another dream:
angels in a smokescreen,
but the only angel Joseph sees
is Mary of Galilee.
Joseph stands there
in the back of the barn,
just happy to be
near her heavenly charms
He's no wiseman
searching the sky,
He's found every star
in Mary's eyes
Cause she’s the Christmas Eve,
and Joseph plays Adam asleep by the tree.
She can summon the life from the Dead Sea
He's never alone, out in the cold with her.
Mary heard an angel, too:
“When the Holy Spirit comes to you
He’ll comfort and he’ll cover you
and you’ll bear a son, a holy one.”
They say he’ll save us all someday,
but Joseph is already saved
Someone listened when he prayed
for Mary of Galilee
Joseph stands there
with the ox and the ass,
greeting the shepherds
and the sheep as they pass
God can whisper to her
for all that he cares
cause Joseph’s right here,
breathing her air
Cause she’s the Christmas Eve,
and Joseph plays Adam asleep by the tree.
She can summon the life from the Dead Sea
He's never alone, out in the cold with her.
